Hello beautiful people!, ♡♡♡

Our topic for this month is going to be focusing on acne, we are going to define acne and what causes it along with different types of acne. How is it treatable, how to manage it, the do's and don'ts. So here's a guide about the monster which we all hate which is acne:

Introduction to acne:

What is acne?

Acne is basically a skin condition where your hair follicle get's clogged with oil, dead skins cells, dirt, make-up and so on. When your hair follicle get's clogged it can turn either into blackhead, whitehead & pimple, each of these 3 factors are a bit different from each other. Along with a clogged hair follicle it also triggers inflammation due to the acne-bacteria growing in the clogged follicle, we can the acne-bacteria Propionibacterium-acnes or for short ( P. Acnes. ).

What are the causes of acne?

There are many factors which trigger acne some of these causes are these:

  • Diet - A unhealthy diet can trigger acne break-outs and it does this because certain foods can raise your blood sugar level which produces more insulin. When you have more insulin in your blood it can cause your oil glands to produce more oil.

  • Hormones - Hormones can have a greater impact on your skin since our body produces a large amount of hormones especially in teens. Our hormones can bind to receptors in our glands which produce more oil, which can lead to break-outs. Also a good point to know there is a thing called hormonal acne which is usually around the jawline and chin mostly woman suffer from this due to them having period.

  • Stress - Stress can have an impact not only on our mental health but also physically this can appear with break-outs which happen when were are in a stressful time-period. Stress causes acne because our body would produce more hormones, when this happens our glands would produce more and more oil and by then acne can flare up.

  • Genetics - Genetics are what make us related by blood because of that if we have a family member ( Usually this is more focused on the both parents ) who had suffered from acne or had a sibling which had acne we can inherent that from that family member.

  • Teenage life - When we are teenagers our body will start to produce a large amount of hormones. Hormones have a great impact on our entire body along with mental and emotional health, our hormones can have a great impact on our skin since they can produce a large amount of oil. Since we are still developing and our body is growing rapidly these can cause changes within ourselves which can cause us stress. Teenagers tend to suffer more with acne because of what is happening with their body, that's why it's important for them to take-care of themselves.

As you can see these factors tend to fall under each other. There are a lot of different factors which cause acne such as vitamin deficiency in the future I shall make a post about it as there is a study which shows this but please know it might not be the same for everyone. Everyone's skin and body is different and these are some of the main factors which can trigger acne. As a acne-sufferer myself I found knowing these factors really did help me understand my skin much more better and not only that you get to know about it more.

What are the types of acne?

There are many types of acne these types are:

  • Comedonal Acne

  • Inflammatory Acne

  • Nodulocystic Acne

  • Hormonal Acne

  • Teen Acne

  • Adult Acne

Each type of acne is different from each other because the break-outs tend to be different along with that the skin-type. For example Adult Acne tends to be dryer than Teen Acne but both can be either Comedonal Acne,Inflammatory Acne etc. It is important that you know how to identify your acne ( In the future I shall do a post on how to identify your skin-type along with your acne-type. ).

How can you treat acne?

There are various ways that you can treat acne these consist of:

  • Getting a Facial - Facials help to give our skin a deep clean as estheticians use products which consist of a medical grade ingredients/percentages which you cannot get over the counter. Not only that they use various ways to help to rejuvenate our skin along with products and special tools to help infuse ingredients better in our skin. Along with that they give a deep clean to our pores, extract blackheads and whiteheads. It's also a way on how we can let go of any technology for a few minutes and just relax to be one with ourselves.

  • Going to a dermatologist - A dermatologist can give us clinical grade products which help combat acne along with that they offer clinical treatments which tend to be more extreme then getting one from your local esthetician. It is important that we go to a dermatologist every 6 months or a year to get our skin checked truly and make sure it's functioning well.

  • Have a skincare routine - It is important that everyone has a skincare routine it doesn't have to be expensive or consist of a lot of steps. A skincare routine should only include a face wash, face cream and SPF! ( Sunscreen. ). Note that SPF is your BFF! When you are washing your skin removing all of the oil and gunk which was collected through out the day gives refresh to your skin.

Now for the future I'm going to make an entire series about skin-care ingredients and on what they mean and how to use them. It might be overwhelming but once you get the basics you will be on your way on glow goddess skin!

The do's and don'ts about acne!

The do's and don'ts is like a method which I personally made up to avoid any future break-outs and these are the do's and don'ts:

  • Don't pick at your pimples - As satisfying it is to pop that pimple and drain all of the puss out it is very bad for your skin. As hard as it is for most people when you pop that pimple you are spreading bacteria around your skin which can be a factor of future break-outs! Don't pick at your pimples unless it's a really bad one which you cannot handle if that's the case go soak a needle in pure alcohol and just inject the tip slowly, don't touch it or pop it let it do it's thing and what you can do is apply a clay mask and seal it with a bandage!

  • Clean your makeup brushes - We all have dirty make up brushes from going out with the girlfriends to having a romantic date. As basic as it may sound people always forget to clean their brushes! Use a gentle soap and lather them with soap then deep clean each brush for 5 minutes ( Get ready for a work out maybe by then you will get your daily exercise. ) Then let them dry out over-night and by tomorrow they will look brand new.

  • Don't sleep in with make-up on - We all have those moments were we go home a little bit tipsy than usual and all we wanna do is cure this hangover real quickly and just go to bed. We often forget to remove our make-up and the reason why it's important to remove it first because it can clog your make-up and just like you go to sleep at night our skin does the same. Meaning it rejuvenate itself and the next morning you wake up with healthy glowing skin. So make sure you wash your face and if you are too tired to do you can use the devil it self..make up wipes that's the only occasion which you can use make-up wipes for.

  • Clean your pillow case everyday - If you have acne-prone skin I find it very helpful if you wash your pillow case everyday. Because just like we go home drunk and tired we are not only going with a full face of make-up to face but your skin is rubbing onto the pillowcase meaning some make-up can transfer there. That's why it's important to wash your pillowcase everything to remove the dirt which was called from the air along from your hair!

There are more do's and don'ts but I'll go much more in detail in the future and cover other topics which are more advance. I hope you enjoyed this Month's Hot Topic and please leave any suggestions /request which you would like me to cover.

That's all for today and remember love yourself how you are and be that person who you want to be! Our skin doesn't define who we are as a person it's just a barrier which holds our body together so thank it, nourish it and most importantly love it! Self-Love is important especially during Ms. Covid-19.

See you next month, ♡♡♡
